I went to their concert and he said that he had recieved a phone call from his ex "Catherine" who told him that she was getting married. And I think this is his shock and surprise at the news he recieved. And the verse where he says "seeing your clothes spread out on my floor" he's remembering the heated sex that they had when they were younger and together. |

Personally, I don't think that he had forgotten about her. I think it was more like she left him, and he had all of these unresolved feelings left that he didn't get to find closure with. It's more like he had to just let those feelings go and ignore them until he finally sees her again one night. He still loves her of course, that's why he "has to see her" and she did love him, but for some reason it didn't work out for her. |

Actually, I really don't think that his life was boring. Doing some background research, he literally hit rock bottom in his life. He was diagnosed with two different types of illnesses and his mother had just been diagnosed with cancer, as well as him having to go through a bad break up. This song is more about how you get stuck in the bad moments in life, and you feel like you can't get out of them. He also mentions that you want something bigger to happen, something to make all of this pain and heartache disappear. He says "when you think to yourself this is it, this is it" he's referring to the idea that "this is all. This is how my life is going to be. Dark and full of pain." That's just my personal opinion. But I don't think it has anything to do with being "bored". |
