The National – Fake Empire Lyrics 16 years ago
I agree with this for the most part. I especially agree with the interpretation of "Turn the light out/go to sleep/No thinking for a little while/Let's not try to figure out everything at once."

I recently went through something that totally brought this song to life - especially this particular lyric. You consciously make an effort not to rush or label things because presently, things are great and the honeymoon period has just begun.

Spoon – Chips and Dip Lyrics 16 years ago

I found this on yahoo answers.

"Shucking and jiving" was a tactic of both survival and resistance. A slave, for instance, could say eagerly, "Oh, yes, Master," and have no real intention to obey. Or an African-American man could pretend to be working hard at a task he was ordered to do, but might put up this pretense only when under observation. Both would be instances of "doin' the old shuck 'n jive."

This song is one of my favorites. I get held up on my heart a bunch when it comes to girls (thinly veiled Walkmen reference) and this is always the song I put on once the scar tissue (figuratively) has begun to form. Love the "It can be such a shame/how short the night and day." Many times, I thought about this during a fling that I was into, but at the same time, knew that would end soon. We never are sated by the amount of time we are given and the more you live in the moment the better, at least that's how I feel.
