i also got this song off itunes free downloads. it has helped me thru the worst times of my life so far, and every time i listen to the words i am. speechless and moved. i think holly conlan in brilliant and she really put what i feel so often into words, into a song. 'I remember gold, And I remember 'well maybe you could wait'. I remember arms reached out too late. Because tomorrow and today Are only here so long. When there's nothing left to say, I hear that life moves on.' those are some of my favorite lyrics ever written. its so true. |

i think this song is about how he knows he's spiraling downward and he knows he's gonna hit rock bottom. he's trying to hold on to everything and everyone, to not let it show. but he knows that if he keeps pretending that he'll bring down his loved ones with him. and even though he's terribly sad and feels completely alone, he's not selfish- he would never ever want to bring down anyone else with him. "stop before you fall into the hole that i have dug here.' i think he's disappointed in the way his life has turned out and what he's become. i think that he thought his life would've been very different. maybe he's turned into someone very shallow and very materialistic and he's realizing that that is no way to live. 'dont talk about everyone, i am not amused by you.' in a weird way, it almost sounds like he's relieved when he's says 'i'm gonna lose you, yeah i'm gonna lose you. if i'm gonna lose you, i'll lose you now for good.'. i think he's finally learned that he has to start over. that he has to let go of the life he's created for himself and start a new one. its a very sad, powerful song but i think that there's much more to it then he's getting out a relationship or a break up. |
