Finch – What It Is To Burn Lyrics 10 years ago
This song is about being a closeted homosexual. I don't know how much more obvious it can get.

You think I'm trolling? I'm not. I have it on good authority that one day Nate will publicly confirm what I just said.

@[eadgbe123:746] I took the last verse as two people building such a strong and happy sanctuary within themselves that people around them will see the manifestation of that happiness, though indicated by the previous line, not necessarily believe it.

You all have to watch the nerdist session of this song. It's just incredible

Beautiful song. Pretty sure it's both literal and figurative.

Listen to the version of this on Q TV on youtube. It made me cry and I don't cry to songs much.

As for the meaning, I agree with everything said above. Multiple interpretations allowed but most definitely about death.

...Totally missed that point. He's saying how people believe they're being wateched by an almighty creature, not that we actually are. He's making fun of you retard fundies.

Silversun Pickups – Growing Old Is Getting Old Lyrics 16 years ago
Actually about the opposite, it's talking about how whatever religion or superstitions we have, they don't accomplish anything, they only satisfy the notion in ourselves that we can live forever. It's clear in the chorus when in the first one he's singing "maybe" before every line, hinting that there may be an afterlife or guiding force, but in the next one Brian sings "pull or put out", saying that we should get rid of the religious beliefs and live life and "Don't be afraid of the cold", which I interpret as death. Don't be afraid cause we can't stop it. We don't need spiritual guidance, we just need to live. I've noticed this theme in a couple other songs on Swoon as well.

Pretty damned sure this song and album has nothing to do with following Jesus or Christianity. I refuse to believe music this good can be made by people who don't think for themselves.
