Seems to me like this song is about affecting change, pure and simple. It's saying young people have the power to change the world, and that they need to use it- slam their fists on the tables and make their demands. It's up to them how they change the world, since they'll one day be in control, and even though it's not always easy for someone to see the truth, they have to take a stand at some point. |

"No, bobby was a racist and there was an ever-present football player rapist."
Bet that sentence doesn't get much mileage. |

When it comes to the line "He soothed the souls of psychos and the men who had the horn", I think "men who had the horn" refers to men whose wives/girlfriends have been cheating on them. The "horn" in this case would refer to the cuckold's horns, a pair of horns that was once said to appear on the heads of men whose wives have been unfaithful, and that everyone but the bearer can see. It'd make sense for men who have been cheated on to be both in a bar and angry/depressed, hence the need for Jimmy's soothing their souls. |

I never liked this song until I heard Paul McDermott cover it on Good News Week. He did an amazing job of it, too. |

I think the "horns" part is actually the cuckold's horns. People used to say that a man who's been cheated on has horns on his forehead that everyone but him can see, called the cuckold's horns. |
