I'm surprised no one's pointed out that toes curling is often used to describe really good things, like a toe-curling orgasm, etc...
I think it's about someone admiring someone who's got a nice comfortable life, maybe the middle class comfort zone, but the narrator envies that life, at the same time that they don't want it. They're certainly torn between wanting something and telling the object of the song to "keep it away." |

One of the best "love" songs of the past year or two (depending on when you consider the record came out). Not quite a love song, could just be lust, in the sense that it's cards and quarters, spending money on booze and/or cigarettes, that make their night possible.

Unless your friend knows something specific about what was meant behind the songs, I think it's a stretch to say he killed the person referred to in the song. He's definitely digging that person up though. I'd say it's more about the realization that some people might be happier in death than we ever saw of them in life. |

pedophilic rape (oral and anal, references to on knees and also feet off the floor), song's pretty clearly from the perspective of the victim, but the victim is basically challenging the pedophile to see that their sexual identity is harmful, that acting on it is destructive of others.

I think its supposed to be embarassing. Narrator of the song is totally digging on an ice queen who still makes his heart sweat from that nervous, butterflies in the stomach feeling...
He's lamely trying to put his image of her down, but he can't really do it wholeheartedly, not with those butterflies.
