this song is so amazing. i feel like a badass and also a disgusting jerk-off just listening to it. and also kind of depressed. i think if panic at the disco and say anything threw a party one night and just got totally wrecked on jagerbombs, and had a huge orgy with some whores, someone would give birth to this song. |

| i think on one of the last "let's never forget.." parts he says "let's never forget we begged to get up here". which makes sense in keeping with the early november interpretation | |

i agree with the addiction thing but i think it's actually about rehab "i've got these hands and i've got some oxygen, i just don't know what to do with it" like he has the absolute basics of life, but no idea what the next step is. "brandy tricks and treats the knees and i fell for it" alcohol addiction "somehow they say this door (?) will sway and swing between the universe and me" i still think it's 'door'. i could be wrong, of course. but can't you just picture him in a sterile room somewhere and the door just swinging shut? god i love this song. "we spend our days fast and grey, trying not to drink the sea" if any of you guys have ever been through detox, isn't this pretty much how it feels? at least after the first part where you're just sick as hell.. it did to me. like i was just colorless and twitching and dehydrated. i couldn't get enough water. "we're so stout and doublefaced, becoming prophets everyday, with the gospel of how we grooved and all the breath that it removed" like a support group. sitting around talking and trading stories, 'prophets' talking about their futures and trying to get clean. "the rebellion is over" he finally gave in to going to rehab. "the colors are much bolder" now that he's getting clean. "the emperor's new clothes sag" a hospital gown. i love cassino. "we arm this room, and get left in empty tombs as the invisible break through, screaming 'i know how to make this easier' 'i can make it easier' 'i can make it easier' i can make it." at this part i always picture him dreaming about like a girlfriend or a drinking buddy who's offering him a drink or something, promising they can 'make it easier' and then he just thinks 'i can make it' and wakes up. anyway, thats just my interpretation. i think i tend to apply this song to my own life, but we probably all do that. great song, great band. nick torres is brilliant. |
