Miike Snow – Silvia Lyrics 16 years ago
I think this is about someone who is obviously in (still) love with a girl called Silvia. I know he says "that I loved" also, so maybe they aren't together anymore. He feels jealous when he goes out, remembering she could be with someone else (i can't have you here, someone else on your skin). He feels that they aren't together because of him and his clinginess. ("and its all my fault for not getting off, so you made it stop cant you make it stop") So she broke up but he still wants her. The way he repeats her name so many times is a sign that he is constantly thinking of her. He couldn't go out with her and enjoy her because he was always thinking of other people looking at her and wanting her, and now he is in that same position because he forced her away with how close he tried to be..

So many guys do this. Why won't you learn?
If you love something, set it free.
If it doesn't return, it never was and wants to be.

Thrice – Atlantic Lyrics 16 years ago
did it occur to anyone these lyrics are kind of vague? that's why you're all arguing over what they mean. we can't always know exactly what the people who wrote the words meant, and maybe they don't either. but who cares? this website is designed for people to express their opinion of what they think the song means, or to get insight from others.

personally, i think this song ties nicely in with the "old memories of a lover" interpretation, given away from the "tin cans and string" metaphor. This is someone he's known and loved for a long time.. and now they are older.. and he starts to feel the same emotions he did before. Everything still moves in slow motion.. and her eyes are still as beautiful as he remembers. You get the idea.

I really do think all you guys are reaching with the God thing, though, but w/e.

The Shins – Phantom Limb Lyrics 16 years ago
Songwriter and lead singer James Mercer described it as "a hypothetical, fictional account of a young, lesbian couple in high school dealing with the sh*tty [sic] small town they live in."[2]
