| Brad Paisley – I'm Still A Guy Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Basically, this is a song about overcompensating. There are so many intentional and unintentional references to phalluses and sex that it's pretty easy to see what is on Brad Paisley's mind. He talks about a large mouth and a log, riding a bull, his club, getting facials, his guns, his truck, etc. I expect that if pretty much any psychiatrist analyzed this song they would come away from it with one thing: Paisley has an unhealthy and dangerously repressed obsession with penises. It's too bad redneck culture is so conservative and homophobic, it sounds to me like the singer is out of touch with his own sexuality. He may be straight, gay, bi, trans, or any number of other sexual orientations; that's not really any of my business. I just think it's unfortunate that he's so afraid to explore the reasons behind his fixation on male genitalia. |

| Terri Clark – Poor, Poor Pitiful Me Lyrics | 16 years ago |

This song is a serious butchering of the Warren Zevon song. I have to listen to this version every day at work and it's painful how much of the meaning is lost by making it "family friendly". It's not supposed to be a clean song, it's about fighting his immoral/illegal urges. When Terri Clark changes the lyric from "these young girls won't let me be" to "oh, these boys won't let me be" it barely even makes sense. Warren Zevon was a great songwriter and his music deserves better than prudish covers and being sampled by Kid Rock. |
