I recently discovered this band and they are pretty awesome! The song is great and i see absolutely no connection, but just the song title reminds me of "Growing Up" by Fall Out Boy. Like i said, there's no resemblance what so ever between the two songs but "Getting Old" just made me think of "Growing Up" lol maybe just because both bands are signed to Pete Wentz's label Decaydance. |

For some reason i don't believe that the "pickup truck out in front of your neighbor's house" is being interpreted right. I actually think it's just a pickup truck that belongs to one of her neighbors. I don't think it's the narrator's truck or her other guy's truck. Just a neighbor's truck parked in his own driveway lol. It just sounds like a description of where she lives. |

i dnt know but i always thought the song was saying the girl used to be a big slut ("last good thing about this part of town"- maybe eveybody hooked up with her?)and now shes trying to have an actual boyfriend instead of random hookups and someone is reminding her that they know the truth. "Maybe he won't find out what i know, you were the last good thing about this part of town" that's always what i've thought since i first heard this song. |
