Septicflesh – Prometheus Lyrics 11 years ago
It is about Prometheus role in our lives. We use the intellect, which he gave us, to see things clear or to see the effect of things.

In greek mythology dionysos stands in contrast to Prometheus because he is the god of illusion, becoming something else. Apollo would be the god of the intellect while prometheus is a titan (not a god because Zeus decides the gods).

The contrast between Dionysos and Apollo/Prometheus can be seen as the revolving principle of life. Prometheus brings like to the darkness and absurdity that is dionysos. Prometheus brings the intellect and individuality.

You can use the gifts of Prometheus to conquer your fears, thus he is the deus ex machina. This song basically worships Prometheus.

And I like it, because I think the metaphor of Prometheus is great! He is essentially what makes or breaks you in the world of living. Everyone can live in darkness and confusion, but to step into the flame of light is the hardest thing ever to achieve. I believe it is interconnected with virtue.

Forgot to mention that the lyrics refer dircetly to the mental aspect of the intellect hence "a headless hollow" - It is not physical.

And it describes the desire for knowledge as a flame as well. That is why I think the Promethean metaphor is so great!

This song is about Prometheus giving the fire to humans. The fire is a metaphor for the intellect. This song describes how the intellect works and affects humans. The absurdity of it, but yet the usefulness. It clarifies thought, but the seeker always finds the truth he wants to find.

Opeth – Nectar Lyrics 13 years ago
It is not about fucking "necrophilia". Why would anyone write about that? It is about the processes of faith! This instance he is speaking about the devil and his effects on him... how he loves him - it is to love yourself when you acknowledge your whole being, not just god.

You got to mind the other songs on this album and how Opeth almost always makes a storyline to go with the music/album. I think this is about how the devil affects us and his "heritage". It is showing what we need to combat in ourselves but yet it is showing that it is the other side of the coin when you think about "god". He still loves devil/the darkness as he confesses it, but yet the other lyrics seem to be leading up to this confession and then drawing the consequences.

Opeth – Burden Lyrics 13 years ago
It is a bit far fetched interpretation. The ocean is just referring to the internal life. As waves move and constantly evolve we do. It is common. But it could be cool if it was true :) At least it is true to you. We all interpret differently.

Very good interpretation! I didn't think of that :)

It is actually a VERY good song.

My interpretation would be quite simple: It is about how "we" don't belong, but still wanna take part in "life" or "society"... it's tough to say.

It could be relationships as well. I actually think it is.... how THE narrator sees himself in a relationship where his counterpart doesn't understand his point of view and are "just like the rest".

I have this problem myself.... too many generic people out there who doesn't wanna give other possibilities a try! EVEN MY OWN FAMILY.

Chevelle – This Circus Lyrics 14 years ago
Sorry I meant my goal setting in itself isn't in focus in my life... I have goals that are in focus but it is goals stemming from a feeling of "love".

BTW hate isn't bad, it's just the precursor of your love... wear out the hate and love shall come.

This song is clearly about "LIFE"... you get it yet? EVERY CHEVELLE SONG, DARK TRANQUILLITY SONG, LAMB OF GOD SONG AND THRICE SONG is about LIFE... making you're perspective on life bigger by showing and pushing you through limits/events told in metaphors... THATS WHY I LOVE THESE BANDS SO FUCKING MUCH AND HATE POP (NO METAPHORS AND BADLY COMPOSITIONED MUSIC that has derived from MONEY not LOVE).

Now for the simple message of this song. If you look at it closely in metaphors and patterns that you could find by connecting it to situations or often "Tales of life"/ "Wise words" - like found in the bible:

It is a critique of the human volition. We are goal oriented by nature cause we can form new things that can assist us in survival this is basic philosophy (don't wanna mention the theories) BUT it also describes the process of this stagnant nature of goal setting. The solution isn't given though, but Im guessing they would say that "LOVE" is the solution to this behavior. I myself do goal setting but only to increase my love and to spread it cause' thats the only valuable thing in the world :,)

The goal setting in itself isn't in focus in my life (and therefore money isn't in focus) thats pretty much what they are trying to convey. GOOD VALUES AND TO EXPOSE BAD VALUES IN SOCIETY AND SPIRITUALISM :)

Tool – Jimmy Lyrics 16 years ago
Hi guys, I believe this song could be about divorcing. His mother and father did divorce, and I think the bad happening he is speaking about is when they divorced. The reason why: He is talking about 1 and 1 becomes 1, which I think refers to, that 2 elders becomes his parents. I don't think that it's he and his mom reuniting because he wouldn't speak about it as 1. He is also talking about "Waiting for me to free him
By coming home" which includes a guy (possibly his dad) right after he mentions that she(mom) is gone.

And somehow I think the light and the loaded memory he talking about is the good times, which he is clinging to and which he wants to build his life on. The ending relates to this as well, the fact that he doesn't want to rely on the bad things, he wants to rely on the good things.

The impressing thing is that nearly all Maynards texts can be interpreted in many different ways, it's so unbelievable! :)
