| Alanis Morissette – No Pressure Over Cappuccino Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| This song was written after she met her brother for coffee one day. | |
| Alanis Morissette – UR Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| For some reason, I associate this song intimately with a gay friend of mine, especially with the 'Don't mind our staring'. He's very much of an exhibitionist ('love to be in front of audiences') as well. | |
| Alanis Morissette – King Of Pain Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| The meaning behind this song is clear; the way she handled it was amazing. I love the switch to 'Queen' of Pain at the end. | |
| Alanis Morissette – The Couch Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Ah, there is so much going in this song. I will return this weekend to dissect it. | |
| Regina Spektor – *** Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Very, very fun. | |
| Alanis Morissette – Thank U Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
"How about getting off of these antibiotics" is about how you should simply accept the weaknesses, the sicknesses, the colds you get, instead of being all hyped up on synthetic medicines and unnatural processes. "How about them transparent dangling carrots" is a line you lot have been discussing for some time. It is simply acknowledging and accepting the fact that dangling carrots keep humans going and often, they are just an illusion, but Alanis is grateful they are present. "How about me not blaming you for everything How about me enjoying the moment for once How about how good it feels to finally forgive you How about grieving it all one at a time" This verse is simply about accepting a relationship, and embracing all things that came with it- good and bad. "The moment I jumped off of it was The moment I touched down" Mainly, this entire verse is about being able to let go, such that you are able to take more in than you ever were. "How about not equating death with stopping" is about not fearing death for all the regrets of things you still wanted to do. This is also partially about reincarnation, the whole idea of life being a circle or cycle. "Thank you providence" is my favorite line. This song is lovely and very beautiful. If we were talking psychology here, I think Alanis is taking a moment to be a self-actualized person. |

| Alanis Morissette – Can't Not Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Oh, I forgot, there is something odd about the laugh at the beginning of the song. | |
| Alanis Morissette – Can't Not Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| This song is simply about disparity at deciding to not do something. It could be because you are convinced of your limits, convinced you should not bite off more than you can chew. | |
| Alanis Morissette – Heart Of The House Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This is about the relationship between a mother and her daughter, Alanis being the daughter. It is not so much about the fact that a woman wants to have the appearance of keeping appearances, as you lot said above, as it is about a woman's true devotion to her family. She is the heart and soul, the emotional core (if not the decision-making core) of the house. The line "how seen were you actually? " is about the fact that the work a mother puts into her household is not always acknowledged, and in fact, can be ignored. "you saw me run from the house in the snow melodramatically" discusses the fact that all members of the household are wrapped up in the thought that they must be the main character of the story, when really, it is the mother that is the hero. "all hail the goddess! " refers to the fact that the children of the mother wind up sarcastically acknowledging the importance of her role. "we left the men and we went for a walk in the gatineaus " is about leaving the house for marriage (the men) or for beauty (Gatineau Paris is a skincare company) or just to move to someplace new (Gatinaeu is also a town in Quebec). "talked like women to women " is simply about reflecting on your life with your mother, no longer as a guardian-to-a-child but as a friend-to-a-friend, which is all we wind up being in relation to each other. |

| Alanis Morissette – Surrendering Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I agree with the above- this is the polar opposite, evil twin, character foil, etc., of Head Over Feet. This is about the importance of holding back, and then unexpectadedly surrendering when love overwhelms you. | |
| Alanis Morissette – One Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
This song is all about the current generation. The self-involved, narcissistic, society-honored Me generation. Its about wanting to be unique, wanting to be special, not allowing anyone else besides yourself be called "Amazing". Its basic human id-ness she's singing about here. Its amazing how Alanis voices the sentiments of a world built on self-interest. Lovely. |

| Alanis Morissette – Front Row Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I have two hearts about this song. The theories are as follows: 1.) It seems almost incestuous ("I know he's blood but you can still turn him away, you don't owe him anything" and "Hey I'm not mad at you guardian" and the "health scare"). It could be about loving a person who isn't direct family, but is somehow related (hence the tidbit about living in New Jersey). That would explain not wanting to get together, but somehow being unable to stop. 2.) It is about a relationship with a lover who loves the spotlight. Apart from that, I love the song. I recall someone said earlier its just like a rant and yes, that's part of why I love it. |
