I think this song is about a father watching his daughter grow up and fall in love, where he's finding it difficult to keep himself out of her life so she can figure things out for herself. I feel like he misses the days when he used to be able to hold her hand and teach her things as they went, and he still wants to let her know that he loves her and is there for her if she needs help. She can turn to her father for help instead of her girlfriends or someone untrustworthy. That's just my interpretation though. |

| Well, it's obvious what the lyrics to this song mean directly, but I think that they symbolize life and all its difficulties in general, and how you really can't do anything but rely on hope and superstition at some points in life. | |
