| Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Zero Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I always think of zero gravity in space when she says "your zero". In zero gravity you're floating and bodiless. So "your zero" could be the customer's high or her ability to become numb to the mind-killing nature of her work. When it says "get to know it whether you're crying" it's like saying it doesn't matter how you feel, this is your job so get it done. So in this case being able to find your zero is vital. | |
| Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Turn Into Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I absolutely love the piano that comes in part-way through. It's very simple sounding but it conveys her emotion so well. I imagine when she says "I hope I turn into you" she's saying she wants leave their relationship behind and forget about each other. While he's moved on, she's still looking back. |

| Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Man Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I cannot tell you how relieved I was when she didn't say "I got a man he makes me want to die, I got a man he makes me want to cry". Using die and cry together is SO overused and I would have been disappointed beyond words if they had used it in this song. | |
| Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Phenomena Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I like how she calls her guy "kid". Like she looked down upon him and didn't think he had what it takes. In the first line she's saying "don't even think about it" but then she gives him and chance and he surprises her. When she says "don't fall asleep with the motor on she'll make you sweat in the water" it's like she's giving advice to him. Introducing him to her world. I can't tell if she's talking about drugs or sex in the third part (or probably both) but it sounds like she's giving the guy a taste of everything. Making him learn. |

| Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Isis Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I agree with the egyptian mythology connection. I think she's comparing herself to Isis looking for the pieces of her love everywhere except instead of her having one love she's had numerous meaningless ones (one-night stands?). She wants to gather them all together and if they're still feeling high and mighty she wants to wake them up and show them what they really are. Throw them into the ocean to watch them devoured. Great song. |

| Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Skeletons Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I agree with ambivalentamanda. The drums bring a military funeral march feel to it. And the background music gives a kind of spacey, unreal but beautiful energy. To me the lyrics are them talking to each other. I see the first half of the song (before the military drums come in) as her calling out to him in her dreams "Love, come home. I'm just a skeleton without you" and then the second half is him responding and comforting her. When it says "Soon comes rain" it's him saying "This war won't last forever. Soon the rain will come to wash all the pain and blood away". He's saying that he's a skeleton without her, too, but asking her to wait for him. Maybe I'm reading a little too much into this but I really love this song. |
