does anyone else think this song might be about sex? It kind of sounds like she is in a relationship with someone who wants to have sex, but she's reluctant because she has emotional baggage tied to sex from the past. She feels like he needs to prove that he cares enough about her to try to understand the baggage she has [Underneath the surface / There's so much you need to know / And you might feel like you're drowning / But that's what I need to let go] and work through it with her before they can have sex. [When the walls come crashing down / I hope you're standing right in front of me / Where my past lies all around / 'Cause all you need to save me is to intervene / And make the walls come crashing down] Also, note that I'm not saying Demi actually has been in that situation or anything like it, seeing as the song was NOT written by her. |

I actually have two theories as to the meaning of this song. 1- it's about being in an abusive relationship. she likes rough sex, but her relationship is too rough and violent for her to take. 2- she's in a no-strings-sex relationship with a guy, who has fallen in love with her. however, she doesn't feel like she's capable of loving properly and won't be able to let him in ("I know you're outside banging, and I won't let you in"), she's too "hard." Possibly, the guy is also refusing to sleep with her any longer until she's willing to be in a relationship with her ("Won't go without my fix tonight"). |
