| I'm sorry, but pregnant? Did you read the first stanza? The song is pretty literal. | |

| Definitely my favourite on dark was the night! What a great record all hour cymbals was too. | |

| I didn't think I could like this song more, then I saw the video. Nick Cave does the best homoerotic out, and still manages to look incredibly bangin' in a pink shirt. | |

I flicked through a few pages and most of the comments seem to just argue whether the song is about LSD or some fucking watercolour. But "it's an incoherent ramble about drugs! It doesn't make any sense!" Surely some have some input about the lyrics? The girl with the kaleidoscope eyes? What beautiful imagery. |

I agree about the 'slathering dog-thing' line. What do you think he is referring to here though? |

In light of the recent cover by the Hold Steady, this information is on the War Child website: "His song tells the story of a Philadelphia Mob hit, orchestrated by Nicky Scarfo, who took over the Philly boys so he could control the new Atlantic City gambling rackets. He made such a mess of things that he and most of his crew were either murdered or incarcerated within a few years." I guess that pretty much sums it up. Incredible song. Favourite lines are definitely: "Put your makeup on, fix your hair up pretty And meet me tonight in Atlantic City." Romanticises an otherwise grim theme? |
