Sugarland puts so much emotion into it that you can tell she was seriously hurt. With the vague words, it makes me want to view it as both females could have been in the start of the relationship (maybe she didn't know how long for the other woman) and she was waiting for him to drop the other woman with all the promises he (men) made just to keep her lured in for however long he want her to be with him. Since women fall too hard after bedding together, it does lead me to believe that she was the second woman in a married relationship. One thing leads to another when your attracted to someone and reality is not at-hand so he didn't stop it in the first place. He wanted a piece of that cake and eat it too just like the typical lifetime single man today who will probably always will be. There is no satisfying a man like that huh? I don't think any band members were that because he was probably understanding that it wasn't nice of him to do that to her. I have seen it too but not sure how much was hidden. I have had an invite with a married man but I very much so declined it, because I don't want that to happen to me if something ever comes around. Wake up women, if he as already made his bed, he is not going anywhere, You are just the side dish, he won't ever leave her for you!!!!! All you do is promote this in all men then nobody is happy and once you go away and then the wife finds out then he won't pick either of those two in the end. She does show alot of power when she can't take it any longer for waiting and "I'm up off my knees" and maybe that "stay" is now stay where you are in her bed and now you can't "stay" with me. It is not easy being drawn into that situation especially when you have no clue whats going on but once you find out, you should immediately drop him. I am sure there are clues when you can't enter his house and everything is set away from the home town. Even if he has kids, watch out he still has to see her once in a while!! |

| I agree with missme. Yet, it is so sad that people have to not acknowledge that the person even exists after a break-up. | |

LMMFAO Byzantium. Good point but just singing from a female is another word for nurturing men in that way. It literally can't happen but just to feel like women can nurture the way a guy can. Makes us feel useful too. If you were alone, it would be fine to just make some romance out of it. Kind of like getting in the mood. Picture the female and male naked with the sweater, her chest (I'd like to get graphic) pressed against his chest, with the sweater wrapped around his shoulder in a bed of white blankets and ok I gotta stop but you know where that goes..... Kind of like the sweater has the meaning of ALL PERSONAL things between them two that nobody else knows. Thier experiences, love, sex, adventure, chaos, intimacy, etc. etc...... Don't you just want to throw your ego out for just one second and let her smooch on ya? LOL and won't have sex for 2 weeks. Maybe the rogaine is a suggestion if that makes him feel better (to enhance the picture from above) lol . If he don't then she'll deal with the picture above being as is. Since he nurtures her in masculine ways, this song is to accent what he does. |

I am not in love but hopefully some day this song will represent it. I love this song. I heard it on the radio one day and once in a while I'll hear it in the morning. It's awesome to hear it on the car radio early in the morning, puts ya in a good mood for the day. |

I partially agree with monkeymantra, melred, pretense, and also have my own opinion too. That it's focused on the general male and female, they aren't shallow, or prostitutes. It's about being 21+ ages being out at the bar. Now-a-days if you've ever been out hanging out at a club or closest bar with friends. Going out for some fun, sometimes you do meet someone and hit it off, and sometimes you don't. Some guy's go out with a "charm" to deal with the "hassle" of buying "heineken and new castle" (trying to hook up with a girl) and some girls can go out with "heavy make-up and cut t-shirt (or noodle strap)" while "every girl out wants to be her" but "they all look the same so why adjust?" to the guy. It just so happens that this night (as well as could be any other night with anybody general) that these two people "falling in love" while "falling in bed" because it is an unknown "cheap romance". They also don't know if it will turn into something like a relationship "advance the plot" but it's a risk that the general takes but it's something that goes too fast to find out. |

I agree with Denise36. I would also think that this song is about everyday life. Like Denise, life wouldn't be without love. Life has different religions with different opinions with the normal cycles in life of standing in deep water, then trying to get out, then feeling like your drowning, and then there is a point of relaxing. With that cycle, it shows (reminds) that love plays an important role. That those cycles are also how one views life themselves. Most importantly realizing loving yourself. I don't think it has anything to do with depression if Jewel is religious. |
