Lenin wasn't particularly leftwing. In the context of the revolutionary movement as it stood in russia in 1917 he was far right. He admits it himself in this book he wrote attacking those to the left of him: http://www.marxists.org/archive/lenin/works/1920/lwc/index.htm He led the bolsheviks who hijacked the russian revolution, and was far more brutal in murdering those to the left of him than those to the right. The sailors in the song refer to the kronstadt sailors - serious revolutionaries who thought lenin wasn't communist enough and rose up against him. He had them massacred.
