to me it is the story of a soldier that the media didnt tell us about and how he walked into the military thinking it was good but now he has mixed fealling about it he likes it but doesnt want to be there he hates the control but has to abide by his CO and the further he gets into the war and the military in general he feels he is loosing sight of who he used to be and is still pushing forward thats kinda what im getting from this song i cant really pinpoint the words im thinking of but generaly its about a soldiers story to me |

this as well is true the media is over run with entertainers and the bad things i was reading a book the other day "The Freedom Writers" its a colection of diarys that a group of students wrote with the help of there teacher down in long beach, ca and one incident in the book is 2 students go to some arcade and rape and kill a little girl and when the media is all over the school about the muder and what not half of the school goes out infront of the cameras and holds hands and prays for the family of the little girl and shows that even in that school there is some good and the media doesnt even air that and also another srudent talkes about how is father who had so much knowledge and influence and was just an over all great person dies and no one hears his story but when some famouse person breaks there toe the entire world knows about it the entertainment industry has way to much power right now |

| witch would make perfect sense in teh fact that we all expect so much alot of fans were hopeing and preying for the day this album came out but alot of people were not satisfied "they changed" "its not them anymore" ect. ect. but at the same time you are right in saying they did it to show us that not everything can be expected to stay the same yes they changed but they are still our favorit Rise Against they still fight the same causes and even still every song can have multiple meanings i still find different view points on the new album everyday for the first 3-4 hours of my day i listen to rise(almost religiously) and i always find another way to look at there songs "walking in shoes i do not oun" to see a whole other side to there songs | |

but if rise against is pro tollerance then why would they bag on religious folk why would they stray from there political and humanitarian fight just to say religon is false even if they think that way i dont know for sure im not them but even if they were athiast or agnostic or what ever they may be why fight something as infinte as religioun there are so many they would have to fight and so many people they would loose a lot of fans for one and alot of credability with the music industry rise against fights for human kind and all humans alike uxcept for the ones that take the earth and what we have for granted rise against fights for the earth since the earth has no voice to spred awareness about what we are doing to it and how we dont have much time left to do something about it rise against fights for animals that also have no voice and that if we dont stop the shameless and unneeded killing we are gonna only have books and zoos to see animals of our time there are way to many endangered species that was caused by us never in my life have i herd rise say anything bad about religion if you agree with me or not i dont care but i say the religious topic is over look at the real picture please our earth is dying not religion (yes i am christian) but i wasnt when i first heard RA and i still knew they wernt raggin religion |

NOT A TRANSLATION BUT WHY THE SONG IS IMPORTANT TO ME: This song single handedly might have saved me from an iminent spiral even farther downfor about 3-4 years befor this album cameout i was gettin involved with some bad stuff i was 14-18 i was skipping school doing drugs drinking partying and eventualy moved onto selling drugs and wasting alot of time and youth it got to a point were i would get high maybe 5-6 times a day and just go to work come home and sleep play video games to kill time befor and after work i dropped out of school when i was 16 and barely went befor that from 16-18 i worked and made a total of around $15,000 those 2 years and spent probably 14,000 or so on drugs ever since siren songs came out i fell in love with RA's music and they way they wanted to reach out and touch people but i just was never touched i looked up all there other cd's and still felt the same but it wasnt untill this song that i was touched the day it came out i went down to best buy and picked it up and right as i heard this song i listened to it for im gonna say almost 2-3 days straight and i just took a long sober look at my life and realized what the hell do i have to show for it what possative thing can i say i did...nothing except when iw as really young. so i moved out and started my path of self rehab my first move was crap because i moved in with a closet coc head and oxycoton head but i moved right as i found out still listening to this song i moved in with my mom at 19 as much as i hated it i got better now at 21 im clean back in school 14 credits shy of graduation and soon to be married and joining the great USAF(United States Air Force) to be a mechanic to later open up my oun garage and racing team for mods and muslce mods the meaning is as is there is always room for change and if you dont like whats happening now it wont last forever unless you keep killing time so get off your ass casue someone out there has it worse then you so at lest make your life better and how you wnat it you are in controle of it wether or not you believe in the grander plan or not you control what you do and dont do so just do it |

this is very true i can not speak for god but as an american citizen i do not agree with alot that goes on we have the power to change things but we dont because we have to feed the pokets of the powerful our money should go more to our nation then making our senators rich yes they represent us but why do they need so much money why do they need manisons while i have to live with a friend because $8.00 an hour cant sustain life why do the nations leaders have nice cars and teachers and state officials have to take ferlow(sp?) days off so they can make the budget i curently am enrolled in an adult school trying to make something of my self(tired of spending my waking moment simply killing time) and there budget is so low they cant even supply tissue to us while we are in a phase 5 flu pandemic and in the small city of rio vista i used to live in a police officers wife was busted 4 times with cocain now i wonder how she was getting it and how he didnt know....ironic anyways great song and great interpretaion. |

| that is exactly the meaning im mean in a nutshell but thats the beacuty of RA songs multi-meanings they reach such a wide area of fans this way and it is a great way of writing instead of trying to find a single person with a single meaning they reach alot with different meanings witch inturn pushes people to look deeper into there songs and find multipule meanings in sertain situations i personaly have lost sight of friends and our country over the years so this song has great meaning to me and is helping me get back intouch with who i was and still am inside so i agree 100% | |

So obviously the song is about the modern youth's struggle with peer abuse and depression but at the same time it can go for adults as well every story wether about a boy a girl or kid or adult can go either way. this song is a great help aid form some people but at the same time things arent as easy to come out with i was never a cutter or pill popper or anything really i abused pot but other then that i know alot of people that went through teen depression and it wasnt easy for them to come out with it because people dont understand what they are dealing with you cant just give a 15 year old 7 differnt pills and hope one will work and you cant really get into there head if they wo9nt let you so helping them is hard and really they have to help them selvs to let you help them it doesnt take a doctor to help someone anyone can help as long as they have an open ear and open mind |

to me the song is about the day he accepted god into his heart and how like most people he does not understand the meaning and story of god "forever your eyes will hold the memory i saw your heart as it overtook me we tried so hard to understand and reason" but once he did accept Jesus into his life he was happy with his "inability to understand" "but in the one moment i gave my heart away the perfect breath where my mind lay beside me and all i knew is what had overtaken me with no explanation i am comforted by my inability to understand" and after that moment of peace he hopes that Jesus will still be with him "when i wake from this dream will you still be here? will your smile still open my heart" i'm not sure what this part means "and leave me transparent?" so that is the meaning to me that for ever Jesus' eyes will hold the memory of him accepting faith and even though he, like myself cant fully understand, is still so happy knowing that for the rest ofhis life Jesus is right there with him. |
