I think its loosely based on a relationship. The opening verse speaks of a lonely individual, whose emotional state is 'in the deepest ocean, the bottom of the sea'. The individual is moved dramatically by another individual 'your eyes, they turn me'. He/she realises they've been wasting so much of their life in isolation and monotony 'why should i stay here?', 'i'd be crazy not to follow, follow where you lead'.
Yet the relationship turns detrimental, and is something they've put so much into 'i follow to the edge of the earth'. The individual is tormented by personal demons 'i get eaten by the worms, and weird fishes', but after experiencing such a relationship begins to realise the cyclical nature of life, allowing them to 'hit the bottom and escape'

I'm a big fan of this duo...but this song really does suck haha. Julia's voice is at its irritable best, and lyrically and vocally its quite mindless |

I think it basically means that there is generally alot of pain and emotional trauma before somebody finds Mr/Mrs right. The song explains that love 'hasn't flown the seven seas to you, but its on its way' |

I believe this song talks about the divine beauty of the world. The videotape is metaphorical of one's lifespan, and how beautiful each experience within life can be 'Because i know today has been the most perfect day I have seen'. As Ed O'Brien stated, In Rainbows had 'No political agenda; its about being human'. Yorke's evoking that no matter what happens through fate and inevitability, nobody should be afraid, more or less be grateful for experiencing the divine beauty of life |

This song has such a mysterious beauty. I love listening to it late at night, it just shuts everything else out. I interpret this song as being about when the world becomes unbearable, and you just want to look at everything in a different way. 'That there... thats not me' reminds me of regret and looking back on something you did that you later find absurd and ridiculous. You just want to shut out everything and get away from that- 'i'm not here, this isnt happening' |
