Silverchair – The Man That Knew Too Much Lyrics 16 years ago
i think this could partly be about his new state of mind, which is more relaxed and happy? that's the impression i got from "time is not a moment we're letting slip away..." it's like he can let go of thoughts, and not have this need dwell on negative ones or even the fear of not being happy again and trying to preserve moments. because he has accepted that life is transitory and can even celebrate that..."a chance to die enhances growth." i also think it could be about how people want him to still be this depressed moody rocker even though that's not who who he is anymore, especially when he says "i'm not your mocking bird, that sings your cellar song.' And he could be talking about his music when he says "it's not enough to say that this is my love", like people wanting more or other things from it. Also, the media misrepresenting him, "she got a paper run, to write your letters wrong"

Silverchair – Low Lyrics 16 years ago
i think that he is just expressing a low mood in a song as well, which is a cathartic experience. it gives a more whimsical feeling and a kind of acceptance about it as opposed to being hopeless. and maybe how it is better to feel something than nothing at all, "never suffer" or that could also be a reference to his divorce and how he felt? like with 'the papers are signed' like the divorce papers, and 'once a lover'...that was just one thought.

Silverchair – Without You Lyrics 16 years ago
i also think it could be about missing someone when they're gone and remembering the time when he was alone and depressed. maybe tne line "and i need for you to come and go without the truth falling out" meant that he didn't want anyone to else to know about the state he was in at the time, when he was all withdrawn. it seems kind of hopeful though, like he's starting to get over it with 'old incisions refusing to stay, like the sun through the trees on a cloudy day"

Nirvana – Polly Lyrics 16 years ago
hmm seems a bit naive to write an ironic 'anti-rape' song from the perspective of a rapist and not see dat there wud b idiots who would take it literally and make it an anthem of theirs. dat wud b pretty upsetting though to know dat 2 guys played it while they raped a girl, i know i'd feel bad even, though it's them that are the monsters...but yeah, this song makes me cringe for dat reason so i skip it. yeah i know im faint hearted.

Nirvana – On a Plain Lyrics 16 years ago
i got the impression from the song,of him playing around with lyrics and being high, as well. i wont pretend i know heaps bout kurt cobain personally but i think it's reasonable to assume it would reflect subconscious things. to me it seemed a bit self-hating. like it seems to me like self-pity but simultaneously being disgusted at having self-pity cuz they thought it was selfish. i got dat impression cuz it kinda pokes fun of itself about being a 'victim'...like how he'd make up excuses or exaggerate like "my mother died every night" (which obviously couldn't be true.) and how he was a blacksheep or an outcast, that 'got black mailed again' so he's like a martyr but he's not at fault cuz he is the victim of other people's problems...but then it goes 'i love myself better than you', which makes an obvious selfish statement and it says 'i can't complain' about being alienated so he does blame himself for it. on a random note, i thought the part was kinda funny though, when he was like,
One more special message to go
And then I'm done then I can go home
I love myself better than you
I know it's wrong so what should I do?
but ya, dats just my 2 cents. didnt mean to write an essay of a comment tho ha.
