i read in dave's biography that he wrote this song because they were playing at a club and she was outside and she wanted to get in and had no money, and of course, dave said hed pay 4 her. so she goes in, and she was, i guess, kind of high/drunk...and while they performed, she just danced. danced for many hours straight. "danced the night away," i guess. |

i heard he wrote it because his sister was getting married only because she was pregnant, not for love, alas, that's where SHOTGUN comes in, as he says in the song. Also, that is why he says "Hey little sister' a lot. another thing is the line "hey little sister, what have you done?" as in "sister, look at the mess that you got into. you got pregnant before you were married, and you don't even love this man." He was annoyed because of this marriage, and out came this awesome song :) |

Wait...
I read somewhere that this song was actually inspired by one of the band member's high school teacher. Is this true? If so...was it David's, Eddie's, Alex's, or Michael's?
