The Postal Service – The District Sleeps Alone Tonight Lyrics 16 years ago
I think this song is sort of about growing up and growing apart. I like a lot of the other interpretations posted here, but I still kind of think of it in a way I can relate to. The visual of the "A vinyl sticker with big block letters adherent to my chest that tells your new friends I am a visitor here: I am not permanent" sort of makes me think of university apparel- sweatshirts that shout the name of your school. Wearing that sort of thing could indicate that you're a visitor somewhere, even if it's the place where you grew up. Or if you stayed local and your friends left you, and you're visiting them. It works either way.

So I find this song to be about going away to college, and coming back to find everything to be completely different. Your friends have made new friends, have taken up different lifestyles. They've moved out of their parents houses into cheap apartments or rundown dorm rooms. And coming back to this confirms old fears, that maybe you're not good enough for them.

The Boy Least Likely To – Be Gentle With Me Lyrics 16 years ago
I think that it is just a general description of the person as they are. This song is essentially my theme song. Not completely sure what that says about me.
