Awesome song REK is completely underrated. I have a couple of his albums and all his songs are this good. He is the best country/western singer around and one of the only ones that stuck to the roots of country and western music rather than conforming like the famous country singers that live in Hollywood. If you like this song look up Undone, Travelin' Light, Shades of Grey, Feelin' Good Again, Then Came Lo Mein, and No Kinda Dancer. |

I agree that the song is about risk but I also think it's about the consequences of risk. The chrome three wheelers and gypsy leathers is about leading a biker and rambling lifestyle and the sin and risk that goes with it. The second verse is about uncle joe's sin in leaving aunt sarah. The bronze beauties seem to be tempting men to adultery and sex with their "shy smiles" and "flirt so well." And finally fire lake can be hell. If you take these risks and lead these kinds of lives you gamble with your life "playing 8's and aces and taking long shot gambles." This song rocks and is one of his best. Second only to "Turn the Page." |
