John Denver – Calypso Lyrics 15 years ago
You tend to miss the point with this song. It's generally tended to be referred to as a song about Jacques Cousteau and his boat Calypso, but in reality it's a homage to the USSR and it's expansion. There are many Communist references in the song: for example: 'like the dolphin who guides you, you bring us beside you' is a reference to Lenin (the dolphin) and the international revolution that Lenin hoped would come after Russia capitulated to the Bolsheviks in 1918.

Doves – Winter Hill Lyrics 16 years ago
A dedication to a place, time and person I think. Perhaps a little ambiguous about the state of the relationship, it's definetely been written from the past tence but has a nice consideration for the future.

I think it's about a sweet, pure love that has been cherished by two people but something has seperated the protagonists, but the memory is not a bitter one but a faithful one.
