this song is awesome. the whole album is awesome, different from their previous ones, but I like it. I feel like they got better @ their instruments and better at writing songs. They are a little less punky, but thats part of growing up? I've grown up and I appreciate the beauty of this newest album at least as much as I apprecated the punkiness of the old stuff. time and place, my friends. time and place. |

this song is about the guitarists (i think his name is steven drozd) addiction to heroin. wayne never told him to stop because he just figured that steven would eventually quit 'I thought I was smart - I thought I was right I thought it better not to fight - I thought there was a Virtue in always being cool - so when it came time to Fight I thought I'll just step aside and that time would Prove you wrong and that you would be the fool -' the first verse shows that easily 'Cause I'm a man not a boy and there are things You can't avoid you have to face them when you're not prepared To face them - If I could I would but you're with him now it'd do no good I should have fought him but instead I let him - I let Him take it ' the impetus to steven quitting was an altercation with wayne in which wayne literally punched him in the face. in the end Wayne is never really confident in his decision to (eventually) stand up to steven's drug use 'And I don't know how a man decides what right for his Own life - it's all a mystery ' this song is incredibly literal, not like a lot of lips songs that are much more bizarre |
