| Kasabian – West Ryder Silver Bullet Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| Alright. This evening, my friend and I were driving around and she commented on how sexy the song sounded. We started thinking about it and realized that the song sounded more adulterous than anything. This song is oozing forbidden love and frought with passion. | |

| The Killers – Happy Birthday Guadalupe! Lyrics | 16 years ago |

This is just fantastic. Their Christmas songs are so unlike the others. One of the many things I love about The Killers is that they are always so different than everyone else. This has been on repeat for a while now. :D It’s an upbeat song with haunting lyrics. So I think this song is about someone who just goes out and sleeps with women for fun, and then one day he realizes that his could fall in love with one of them. When he starts to fall, he has to get out because he can’t deal with the commitment. So he runs away from it all, from the Woman he’s fallen for, and his happiness as well. Once he’s gone though, he can’t handle being away from her. She plagues his thoughts… she’s always on his mind. |

| Beirut – Scenic World Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I always hear these lyrics in the first verse: "The lights go on, the lights go off When things don't feel right I lie down like a tired dog Licking his wounds in shame" I could get lost in this song. It somehow always manages to enrapture me, no matter how many times I listen to it. The music fills the car (or wherever I am) and world feels lighter, happier, full of life. :) |

Every time I hear this song, it triggers some sort of strange emotion- I'm not sure how to describe it. I just feel at peace, sad, content, and reflective all at the same time. I have a story sort of like a few comments above me but somewhat different... -My family and I were coming back from a trip and we stopped at a rest stop where there is this huge look out into a valley and there are these beautiful mountains towering above you (I believe it is called Sunset Point it's in Arizona) Anyway, my dad was fiddling with the car or something and my mom was letting our dog walk around for a few minutes so I went and sat on a concrete bench next to some old people and looked out at the sunset. It was laden with blazing red, pink and a fading orange...I think about it every time I hear this song. |

| Minus the Bear – Pachuca Sunrise Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Every once in a while I come across a song that zeroes in on all of my senses. I can close my eyes and feel everything. My filmy white dress is fluttering in the breeze coming off the ocean. I can feel the mist from the tide collecting on my face and arms. I take a deep breath and fill my lungs with the thick, salty air. The full moons light is cascading onto the sand, there is an eerie glow that comes from a night with a moon like this, it seems to settle amongst the sand, drape itself onto the rocks and driftwood. It's very early morning (probably two o'clock) the reflection of city’s lights are rippling in the tide, I can see a cargo ship lazily drifting on the horizon it’s light and the surreal moonlight being it’s guide. hahaha, I really don't know where that all came from. (did anyone else notice that the guitar sounds "oceanish"? It just makes me think of a tide coming in) |

| Jimmy Eat World – Polaris Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I love Jimmy Eat World. I was born in Mesa in 1993 (the year they formed) so that's pretty dandy. Anyway, I feel like this song is about someone who loves you but they have to leave you because they can't stand being in one place for too long: "I'm done, there's nothing left to show Try but I can't let go" (Obviously he can't let this person go even though he is drained and just wants to end his misery) "You say that love goes anywhere In your darkest time, it's just enough to know it's there" (She is telling him that she loves him and that even when she's gone, a part of her will still be with him because love goes 'anywhere') the last verse says: "When you go, I'll let you be But you're killing everything in me"- and I feel like that is basically him resigning and saying that he'll have to move on but it's going to practically kill him emotionally. |

| Radical Face – Let the River In Lyrics | 16 years ago |

Sometimes people have their parents' faults follow them around. Say someones father was some sort of criminal, or the mother was a drunk: at times, the children of these people are automatically grouped in with the people who have those problems. "Oh, well, Timmy's dad was into hard drugs you know, it would be wise to stay away from him Mary, you never know." things like that happen all to often. Of course, this is just my interpretation. But if you look at the lyrics, you can kind of see where I am coming from: "I closed my eyes and saw my father's sins They covered me like a second skin I peeled them off, and sure I bled a bit But now I'm free to sink my own damn ship I cut my branch down from my family tree To start a fire in the living room Now the house is just ash, this time it's sink or swim" So basically he is saying that he's broken the mold that his family has made for him. That 'second skin' covered him- it followed him everywhere. He's 'cut a branch off from his family tree' and burned it down (it sort of sounds like he let go of his family...?) but it's time to sink or swim, he is on his own and is fending for himself. |

"Ada I can hear the sound of your laugh through the wall" - Did anyone else notice that the piano solo after that line sounds a bit like someone laughing? It's fantastic. |

| The Killers – Human Lyrics | 16 years ago |

I'm thinking the "Are we Human? Or are we Dancer?" line might mean this: Human- Humans make mistakes, we are selfish and have loads of problems but at the same time... we are full of love, empathy and kindness. Humans (generally speaking) have aspirations and are full of life. They set a path for themselves and follow it on their own and don't let outside influences make them move onto something else. They believe that "anything is possible" Dancer- Sort of a reference to mindlessly following the movements set out in front of you without questioning, following the crowd, listening to what you are told, don't break the mold, follow the path set for you, do what is the "normal" thing to do. (I'm not totally sure...I'll have to listen to it a few more times (it's been on repeat for a while now) but that is my initial reaction to the song) P.S. all the people for the DENSER line...I've seen interviews where the band says that they don't really like the fact that people misinterpret that line because it changes the songs meaning completely. |

| The Killers – Leave the Bourbon on the Shelf Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
I adore this song. It's the perfect beginning to The Murder Trilogy. Now, I'd like to share my interpretation on the trilogy and see if anyone agrees with me. 1) Leave the Bourbon on the Shelf - It's full of imagery. I can completely see the story in my head and when a band can do that, they have hit the fantastic mark in my book. This is pretty much about the nasty break up that he and Jenny has. He's completely smashed. "Fallin' over myself" and he's obviously gone a little crazy "The television’s on, I turn it off and smile." and he's trying to get her to stay and she just wont. Now he asks her to leave the bourbon on the shelf so he can drink away his agony. When people get mad they become blatantly honest and they just say how they feel so they can tear the other person down (and it doesn't help that he's tanked either.) So he starts spewing insults "And I never liked your hair or those people that you lie with" etc. By the end of the song he is just drained. He's filled with anger, yet he still loves her "endlessly"... 2) Midnight Show So I'm not totally sure how he got her in the car with him after they broke up like that...maybe they "reconciled"? But here is what I get from this song. - He has somehow convinced her that they are going somewhere alone to talk or mess around. It's underneath the stars and the ocean is there (which makes it seem all romantic).I believe the first "drive faster boy" is Jennifer speaking. Then while he's driving he's thinking of all the people who have tried to help him through everything (maybe the break up or the apparent drinking problem or some other life issue) He's obviously distracted because he finds her attractive 'You've got a real short skirt I want to look up'. Then all the "Drive faster boy" lyrics sound more like his thoughts-'I just want to get this over with, drive faster!' Then you hit 'We were just in time. Let me take a little more off your mind' this is possibly when he decides that it's time to kill her but he kisses her first (that would be very murder-esque ha) then he starts to have second thoughts on going through with it 'We were just a good thing. We were such a good thing'. He tries to ask her to stay again 'But promise me you'll stay, Fix these things I've hurt' she refuses. Then he pushes those second thoughts back 'make it go away!' He finally kills her (by choking I suppose) 'I took my baby's breath beneath the chandelier of stars in atmosphere' and then throws her into the raging ocean. 'And watch her disappear into the midnight show'. Then in the last verse you can tell that he is going back over what he has just done and is feeling wretched, this explains the "Oh no" at the end. Then you hear him sing in agony "She said she loved me!" He's gone crazy, the music at the end sounds straight out of a horror movie, where the killer is standing there obove where he threw the body into the ocean. 3) Jenny was a friend of mine -Fabulous. You hear the chopper at the beginning and the police sirens...I can almost picture the search light on the helicopter finding the body in the ocean. The police are interrogating him, asking him where they last saw her, what happened. He claims that they took a walk and she seemed weird, they had been fighting (and it was raining...perfect horror movie visual imagery! he) She told him that she loved him but she needed to go somewhere (he's trying to convince the police that she left, therefore he has no idea where she went or how she died). Then he try’s to play on their sympathy and says 'she couldn't scream while I held her close (because people yell when they fight) I swore I'd never let her go'(trying to convince them he adored her) Then he tells them that he would never kill her because he loved her, they were friends, why would he ever do something to harm her? Then he wants to leave the office: He claims he knows his rights and that he's been there all day. He thinks it's time for him to leave blah blah. And then they ask him (again) if he killed her. 'I just can't take this! I swore I told you the truth!' Woooow. Sorry for how long that was...I understand if you didn't read the whole thing. And if you did, thank you for taking the time! |

| Wolf Parade – Disco Sheets Lyrics | 16 years ago |

On the fan site, I read some of the lyrics that sounded perfect. There are only a few errors on here... but I'm not positive if this is totally correct: "I saw a secret place Oh yes, show it to me again show me to Your secret place Oh yes, show it to me again, show it to me. I know everybody’s got something disgraceful Everybody, that’s what the sake of It looks so pretty in the light In the night’s light Show it to me again, show it to me again, Show it to me again, show it to me, oh You breathe Deeper than I do, I do. He breathes Deeper than I do, I do. I breathe shallow like I could’ve spied on spite One time I spied on you. Oh, I'm sorry about the dark Everybody got their lid on tight, Everybody says, “Come with me, I’m easy, and then we’ll see who’s got the secrets.” So if you’re looking for romance I got answers Where the dancers evidently say, “Come with me, I’m easy, and we’ll see who is the deepest.” And everybody got their hair just right, And their lips just right, and their eyes say, “Come with me, I’m easy, and then we’ll see who got the secrets.” No one has to see, believe me Oh, I’m sorry about the dark. (BAHH I LOVE THIS SONG.) I never seem to get tired of it :] I think it's about the night life and how it changes everyone. People become mysterious, they try to make themselves look "just right" for the occasion. Etc. |
