| The Killers – Smile Like You Mean It Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| I think, like marquee moon, this song is sung by a dead narrator, and he is like looking back on his memories, and his life, after maybe killing him self around mid twenties, i know thats very bleak, and yeah suicide is really sad and a tradgedy, blah, blah, blah, but yeah, thats just my interpretation of it | |

| The Go-Betweens – Streets Of Your Town Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| dont think grant was trying to insult brisbane when he said this town is full of battered wives, he was just describing the town as he saw it, and what he saw, and yeah domestic violence does occur in brisbane, as well as a lot of love, and a lot of fun, and a lot of different people of different ages and cultures, all in all, its a good town, with the good and the bad, and i think thats what grant was trying to encapsulate about this, our town | |
| The Go-Betweens – Bye Bye Pride Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| not worth analysing that much, its just a song about a guy being young in brisbane and drinking gin, and his relationships and life | |
| The Go-Betweens – Bye Bye Pride Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| this song speaks for him self, if youve ever been young and in brisbane you will be able to understand what ever line to this song means | |
| Television – Marquee Moon Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
Theres too much friction [in life]- but i dig friction, friction! F,R,I,C,T,I,O,N, followed on the fourth by marquee moon, the greatest song about a black out ever written, the greatest song about "life in the hive" incredibly powerful, beautiful grimey song, that speaks in countless volumes of the trials and tribulations of city life, and the answer to it all? He speaks to the man down at the tracks, and asks him how he dont go mad, he says, look here junior! dont you be so happy- and for fucks sake... dont you be so sad |

| Something For Kate – Pinstripe (acoustic) Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| pinstripe> pinstripe shirt, stuff you wear to work, think this song is about going to work on the train, it has a very repetative grinding rhythm at the start of it, of the repetition, over and over again of a man going into work, dur-dur-dur-dur-dur-dur-dur, this kind of sounds like, over and over again, or feels like at least, and the man is a bit confused "there is no need to ask unless there is some doubt" and hes singing about a girl that he sees as a bit of an angel, who is a renegade angel out of control , who is just starting to get comfortable in her own skin, "if [she] is comfortable with 2 feet on the ground, she doesnt need wings any more", and then it goes on to talk about the simple pleasures of life rain falling on your head, this sort of brings the man, the pair back to reality, that theyve been detached from the day to day lives of office drones, and bordem, corporate life, "trees planted in a single line" the girl seems to like city life, though prefer it to grass, and he doesnt think things are going to work out between them, so he stares up at the sky, pondering, maybe hell go blind or maybe all hell see is, all hell see is sunshine, and were back into the grind, the train again, (akin to go-betweens'cattle and cane) he doesnt know what he means, or is feeling about this girl or about life in general, hes just trying to sound, or perhaps not trying to sound... HE DOESNT WANT TO SOUND LIKE THIS, hes starting to get angry at his circumstances now, and i bit more passiontate, the bass is really kicking in, and hes just venting, his feelings how he feels about this relationship, he feels as if the girl is "the last day of april every year, shes grey, shes feeling for something she cant have" these lyrics speak for themselves, and these people, they are looking for more, they are staring into the cosmos hoping for the glimpse of a divine, but maybe all they will see is sunshine, maybe all they will be destined to do is, walk in the straight life of conformaity, wasting energy in the day time (going to an office drone job, that isnt right for them), epic ballad, imo its the marquee moon of the 90s | |

| Something For Kate – Déjà Vu Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| dont know if its fair to call sfk an average band, i mean most of thier stuff is pretty innovative, with really great melodys. not to mention dempseys brilliant song writing, he speaks in a really eloquent language of metaphores similar to shakespeare's | |
| Something For Kate – Déjà Vu Lyrics | 16 years ago |
| when he says light globes wash up all along the beach, i think thats more like imagery than a metaphore, like it makes me think of a hurricane on an island and strolling along the beach a few days after that, and all the wreckage and shop fronts and light globes along a string of electrical wires. but thats just me | |
| Something For Kate – Beautiful Sharks Lyrics | 16 years ago |
|
To me I think this song seems to be about some one who doesnt have long to live or is about to die (eg: swimming with sharks) but at the same time, they appreciate the beauty around them, and have accepted the inevitable. Think this could be relevant because dempsey father died when he was a boy, and i can relate to it too because the same thing has happened to me. anyway great song, keep up the good work sfk, if you are reading this. |
