By the way, the lead singer's name is Brent Smith. If what you said is true, then maybe Brent, maybe he is the child. Maybe he was the unborn child at some point, and his parents had considered abortion for him... or Brent's grandparents considered abortion for Brent's father. |

| I hate that people are just now discovering this song. Brent Smith wrote these lyrics from the very bottom of his heart and the stupid pop stations are playing it like it's something Lady Gaga would sing. I value songs that aren't played millions of times on the radio. When pop stations play songs on the radio, you know they are going to get old. I was in love with this song before the local pop stations played it, and now it makes me very sad whenever I hear it. | |

First and second verses: I deem that these stanzas are speaking of his lover's importance in his life. Third verse: He would die for her. "I took my my turn..." First chorus: She is very beautiful. The "skin and bones" makes me believe that she is sick and looks yellow or pale. He would do anything to make her better. Fourth verse: He may have committed suicide so he could be with her in heaven. Fifth verse: I suppose this may mean setting boundaries, or trying to achieve something for her. Second chorus: Expresses his meaning in the first chorus, repeating it so she knows his words are true. Bridge: Of course, the stars shine for her as he says earlier, but here it may be something different. "They" could be referring to his eyes, for in his eyes, she more brilliant and amazing than the stars. Sixth verse: Trying to get her to see behind his words and how he feels. This is an important stanza in the song and it makes me wonder if there is more to how the stars shine for her. |
