| Norma Jean – Memphis Will Be Laid To Rest Lyrics

This song is so heavy, but still not completely metal, i love it. This song is about sin, and especially sexual impurity. It's about the attractiveness of this "now you're doing the waltz with your murderer". As in other suggestions, it is the personification of this, and how the world has been sculpted so well to tempt you with this particular sin with out you knowing. The start shows this through the lines "in your tuxedo suit... lower your defences", obviously showing the persons innocent intent and how oblivious they are to what's happening/about to happen. It's how the world has twisted it's view of morals, if not completely abandoned them in some cases. |

I'm not saying you're wrong, because honestly when it comes to song meanings, there really is no wrong, but I think TheManipulator is more right, just because of the end. I don't think emery, being a band of christians, think that that's what makes a man a man. Not giving up hope, even in the hardest times is what makes a man a man... |

Yeah, I think there are some mistakes. I always hear "you wanted me when you wanted me". An also "I thought you'd love me but you don't". I think it's basically about this love not being what he expected, or what the girl promised. They seem to sing about that a lot. They are a christian band, so you could possibly delve a little deeper with this being about sin. How it promises the world and then leaves you alone in the dark. At least that's another meaning I get when i listen to it. I just love their music as well, it's so unlike other bands which is rare these days. |

| Underoath – To Whom It May Concern Lyrics

This song is not directly about something, like suicide. It's their hope song. From TOCS to Lost In The Sound, their albums have been essentially stories, and the last song is traditionally their hope song. This song is the kind of song that will have a different meaning for different people, but on the surface, it's about how there's hope, though it may not seem like it. It's about how people can spend what seems like their whole life looking for the hope, walking what appears to be nowhere, blind by the hate and sin in the world, but the hope is there, you just can't give up. |

True. This album was pretty much written by Spencer, about himself. This last song is the hope, notice how short this message of hope is when compared to the rest of the album, but how powerful it is? |

Songs will have different meanings for different people, and that's the whole point. Underoath are a christian band, but they write about things that concern everyone, because being a christian and having non christian friends, i know that we all go through the same crap. Underoath is all about doing what they do for a reason, but they're not trying to bible bash anyone, because even I hate it when i get bible bashed. This song is essentially a cry out to god. Spencer has been through some pretty heavy things, and a lot of the songs on this album are him "sitting himself down and writing what he hates about himself" (thanks AP magazine). It is definitely Aaron and Spencer singing. There may be harmony done by tim, because I've seen the lost in the sound of separation DVD (i got the massive collectors edition with vinyl records haha. Yes i am a fanatic), and they did get him to do harmony when required so they could truly play their songs live. As i said before, the beauty of music and song lyrics is that they can hold various meanings depending on what angle you approach them. |

I think that the line "Jesus, I'm ready to come home" is possibly the most powerful lines ever, and not just the direct meaning, but the connotations that go with it. It's transcends the christian world, and has meaning in the secular world that can't be ignored. This is what music should be. Honest, and powerfully simple. |
