I love this song, and I agree wholeheartedly with what it's about. However, I feel like I can also relate it to the fact that my boyfriend is clear across the world in Afghanistan for another nine months. Those ten-minute, once-every-two-week phone calls. That quick once-a-day email conversation. It's hard, but i'm patiently waiting because I know it will all be worth it in the end. |

This song has a completely different meaning to me than anyone else. It's very special to me. When my boyfriend was on his two-week midtour leave from Afghanistan, he told me this was the song that made him think of me. He's the kind of guy that doesn't like to show emotions. He's never had such strong feelings for a girl to the point where he actually cared and tried to make things better, until me. He's still not perfect, but you can tell he tries. And i'm the only girl that will "take that shit from him." He keeps a letter that I wrote him a couple months back in his wallet for him to pull out at any time when it's "been a long day" that says "Smile, someone's thinking of you."
I listen to this song and the feeling I get from it is just amazing. |

I absolutely love this song right now. Here's my take on it:
He's fascinated by this girl who manages to take what's been given to her day after day with a constant fake smile upon her face, despite how messed up it really is. She's not complaining. She asks him what he thinks of her and he simply tells her basically, that even though her life is far from perfect she "dances like a queen." In other words, she makes the best of it. Meanwhile his life may be even better than hers, but he's just always down about it.
And when he says "your silhouette is still my reflection" - a silhouette is black. Black is usually associated with some kind of negativity or depression. He's just amazed by how this girl puts up with every unbelievable thing that goes on in her life, yet unfortunately he just can't find that hope for himself. |

I'm not sure if anyone else has a similar take on this song or not, but this is how i see it..
I feel like it's about teenage years. So of course along comes with it is the typical drinking & partying with his friends all the time, etc. Or it could also just symbolize him doing something a girl he's dating really dislikes. The girl he's with can't stand it and threatens to leave. And even after she sees that he's not willing to change for her, she's "still around."
Maybe i'm wrong, but that's how i interpret it. |

I love this song. I also feel it's about a relationship that starts out wonderful, and quite possibly ends up in marriage. To me it says that no matter what, nothing is going to get in the way of the two of them.
I'm not married, nor am i anywhere close to it, but i feel i can somewhat relate to this song. The guy i began seeing is currently in the Army and going away for a year. I guess this song just gives me a little more encouragement to keep trying. |
