Another cleverly crafted stab at 21st century society. Sure, it's not exactly a MENSA puzzle, but there are some cunning bits and pieces (anything people are prepared to fight over is a sign of good metaphor... the mirror, the sun, "plastic") One only has to look at her previous stuff to know that this "poke fun at society's values" attitude is right up her alley. LDN was all about the seedy underbelly of London. It wasn't poetic, it was direct and gritty, but it conveyed a very clear message about how we romanticize our cities. Overall, I tend to like social commentary, and for me, Lily Allen has yet again, encouraged society to take a good long look at itself "in the mirror". |

there is no shortage of wisdom and insight in these lyrics. in fact, i think both interpretations are equally valid and i have no doubt that the lyrics were constructed to convey both of these messages. |
