The Birthday Massacre – Play with Fire Lyrics 12 years ago
When I hear this song it makes me think of humanity and politics nowadays; also how we keep pushing our limits, wanting to know more, create more, and sometimes even go too far. I guess the interpretation's a bit of a long shot - especially when it comes to the verses, but the lines "play with fire" always make me think of the things I mentioned above.
People wanting to be God and all that.

30 Seconds to Mars – Hurricane Lyrics 16 years ago
Just this morning I finished reading this book "Human Smoke" by Nicholson Baker. It's a non-fiction which "offers a fresh perspective on the political and social landscape that gave rise to World War II..." etc. A bunch of extracts from newspapers, radio speeches, memoirs and diaries from the '30s and '40s
Lol. Anyways...this song really reminds -not of the book itself but the events that took place back then. WWII, the leaders and their decisions, the Jews. So basically WWII in general.

Especially the part:
Tell me would you kill to save for a life?
Tell me would you kill to prove you're right?
Crash, crash, burn, let it all burn
This hurricane's chasing us all underground

I don't really wanna go explaining and compmaring it all now (might take too long)
But really...if u just think about it...

Lol. If u consider this in any way fucked up then just don't reply

Marilyn Manson – The Beautiful People Lyrics 16 years ago
i first heard this song on mtv the other day.
it was of marilyn manson performing live...now i don't remember what where or wat kind of concert it was...maybe "Rock am Ring" in germany or something. really not sure. anyway while he was singing on stage, behind him was this giant screen, which was showing pics of Stalin, Adolf Hitler and I think there was some other person...
lol i was thinkin "what the..? why show THEM?!" these World War II..."heroes" if u will (lol that was just straight off the head)

so im thinking, he's probably referring to them as "the beautiful people". could be idk. why else show their photos?

they are beautiful indeed :)

The Birthday Massacre – Red Stars Lyrics 16 years ago
lol yeah...really catchy song indeed. infact, i only fully heard it today for the first time!
radiofuck has already posted what the band said about the meaning of this song. so there's no arguing that really....
but i have to say the moment i heard the whole song...the very first thing that came into my mind was Communism. definitely. red stars and all....

and thats the reason it really appeals to me. (that and the fact that its a good melody, tune etc)^^

30 Seconds to Mars – Battle of One Lyrics 16 years ago
To me this is their most energetic...sort of uprising song of the album. And "Battle Of One" has even a greater effect when u listen to it, right after listeing to "a modern myth" (which is actually the very song before this one). "modern myth" being much slower and just sad....and then all of a sudden this song!
kinda raises ur spirits, makes u stronger

Radiohead – Street Spirit (Fade Out) Lyrics 16 years ago
I really consider the song "bittersweet symphony" by the verve as the sort of anti-"street spirit" song. :)
this song is so haunting and profound, that it doesnt even make u cry. but more of- leaves u floating in ur own despairing thoughts and emptiness. its that strong. and i think that this song (if heard by a more sensitive and depressed person) is powerful enough to make someone commit suicide.
but i believe this song only interprets one side of life. the other is happiness, strength, faith and so on. so u have to look at both sides to make a judgement. to keep it in balance. not just stick to the one side.
*wide grin*
