gerard way's the best lyricist of the 21st century, to date. but, don't see what you're doing here.
the song's about a girl he misses, he reminisces their drunken, sexually charged escapades. his double use of words is brilliant. WAY" down, to me is her telling him to go down on her. way down, marked the grave, they're having sex on it. the collision of your kiss that made it so hard, can be taken in a sexual context, or not. just like the sharpest lives is about life on the road and the bennies of a bj. |

buah, i still say it's about he and a girl trying to stay away from the evils of the night life, drugs, alcohol, random sex. and if he succumbs to the temptations of evil, to just kill him. not literally, it's just a song. i don't read into it so much, it's more of a ballad told in the first person. himself. many metaphors having to do with unscrupulous night demons, bar people. sex and drugs and rock and roll. save him. and he'll save her also. he promises. he refers to the lifestyle again in sharper lives. |

someone please direct me to these interviews that gerard talks about the meaning of his lyrics. about 1000 men and murder, evil and all that stuff. all i've ever heard him say is how he uses alot of metaphors, and at a show he said sharper lives was about oral sex and how some other song was about a fat girl he once knew. no kidding, it was at projekt revolution shows, summer 2007, when he was so high on being with Lynz, i don't think he cared about anything he said at the time. he was very blunt about most of the meanings of his songs when he spoke about them before he sang them. |

here we go again, these are all metaphors to killing an evil lifestyle he can't seem to kick. sex and drugs and rock and roll. sex and drugs and drinking. and he's as bad as the lifeless ones he's partying with. and an adress book of the lifeless girls he's done. he can't break the addictions. |

another song about his dangerous lifestyle the first few years he was in the band and maybe before the band. sex, drugs and rock and roll. it's about a one nighter. i agree with chino69's meaning of vampires. people with no lives who latch on to others who are successful in order to live. leeches or vampires. |

er, i think it's about sex drugs and rock and roll-life on the road. why don't you blow me, give me a shot to remember, kiss it, i will surrender. gerard was a dirty little boy for awhile, taking full advantage of his groupies, as mikey referred to as the roy roger's salad buffet. they had their choice of girls, young, old, big, small, etc. this is a song about that lifestyle, nothing alive and substancial, just a bunch of dead vampires doing drugs and drinking, and sexing, very shallow existance. i've heard him sing "kiss it", not a kiss and i will surrender. maybe on the album, but not at shows.

i just think this song is what it is. about a girl he knew from work he wishes he could date, but never asks and she's gone, and because he's so shy, he resolves himself to his fate. which is being alone. |

i personally think he sang this song for lynz, they just starting seeing each other on this tour and had been together just a few short weeks. she had an umbrella, like the umbrella academy umbrella sharpied on her arm, this song was the song of the summer for 2007 when the projekt revolution tour was going on, they would sharpie things on their body everyday show for each other, it was sooo romantic, even when the fans put two and two together. you can see it on buzznet.com if you go back 3 or 4 pages on the my chemical romance forum. it's called gee and lynz cuteness... |

this is a tough one. some parts i think it's about his past, his experiences and disapointments, disalusions(heros selling their songs on tv) these are lyricists who sold their songs to advertisers just for the money. you're just a sad song with nothing to say a lifelong wait for a hospital stay. what a kick in the ass that line is. i wonder if a parent used to say that to him or if he's actually saying that to his lover,i don't know where he ever heard it but it makes you want to get off your butt and do something productive with your life so you're not a life long wait for a hospital stay. it one of his strongest lines in a song. i agree with a little that alot of people said here. it's a song of reflection, about a relationship falling apart. sometimes i think it's a song of an adult saying this to his son, i just don't know. |

could you imagine how surreal it must have been to have had the experience of actually seeing those planes hit the twin towers? he had a ringside seat, and because he wasn't physically close, like right one the street to experience the horrific emotional devistation, just visually seeing it, the mental agony of imagining the horror was intensified a trillion times from seeing it on tv. i saw it on tv and was screaming in horror imagining the people dying on impact, the energies of these people dispersing while their bodies disintergrated or crumpled from agonizing pain. i think these lyrics are brilliant. they're metaphoric yet real and simple. |

i think gerard way's a brilliant lyricist and this song is a pure example of his lyrical prowess. his muse surely was influenced by today's artistic culture of vampire, horror, and romantic/violent cult classics, and his metaphors are twisted beautifully into his landscapes resulting in near perfection interperting today's society with his own relationship experiences.
bullets are the nasty words and things we say to each other to shoot each other down, in anger and hate.
shot down until the relationship is dead. how smart we think we are by our relationship dialogue, always having a sharp, snappy comeback, put down artistry, verbal abuse, just plain hate that eventually replaces the love and caring you show each other in the beginning. that's the trunk of ammunition. the beginning is the feeling of the relationship in the beginning. the end of the song is when the relationship dies. i love his reference to scarecrows, because anger is an emotion that stems from fear. and though the relationship dies, he will always love her. |

in my opinion, this is a sensually charged, sentimental song about an old fling of gerard's, and is blatantly sexual in content, when he sings way down, he's imitating her telling him to go down on her. i see an image in my head of a girl lying on her back and he's kissing her neck and starting to go south, and she keeps saying "way down," "and the collision of your kiss that made it so hard". duh. |

to me, this song makes me think that this song is about him trying to quit the lifestyle (sex, drugs and drinking)associated with nightlife. the druggies and partiers that bring you down with them are the vampires, the temptation--if he falls, will she just kill him so he won't have to keep living like this forever. the hangovers, everything associated with this negative but engaging, addictive, alluring lifestyle.

| My Chemical Romance – Desolation Row (Bob Dylan cover) Lyrics

this song is missing at least eight verses from the original bob dylan song. gerard explains that he couldn't cover a song that long these days and picked his favorite verses of the song for this cover. it makes sense, and i love him punking out the tune, it's my favorite bob dylan song, it's just sad everyone was sooooo judgemental about it. reportedly dylan himself wasn't. he liked it. |
