I agree somewhat with Porcupine179 but I think it can also mean that this person they're referring to chooses the easy way out, the path of least resistance. So then after the war, did they really learn anything or were they even affected at all by it?
That's just how I see it, by facing challenges we learn lessons, especially by our mistakes, if you just play it safe all the time, or take the selfish route- the experience isn't the same. Just how I see it! |

This is a favorite of mine, helps to think about those who aren't with us anymore. I prefer the acoustic version but I love the background vocals on the regular version. I suggest looking up the AOL session live recording for those that want something a bit softer. |

I think for the most part the song is self explanatory, but the way I see it- is that she's been with someone so long and as much as she hates to go, she has to figure out who she is to before she can commit to him. As opposed to just going along with it and forgetting about herself, or who she is apart from 1 part of a couple. |
