I love this song! I love this band!! Why is this the first comment?? I think this song is strongly based around the religious belief about no sex before marriage. ... maybe... well the end is anyway "what does it mean to take off all our clothes and look into your eyes and say i mean it?" These lyrics are a little crazy.. but his voice is hard to interpret.. |

| Shout Out Louds – Please Please Please Lyrics | 16 years ago |

"it was the worst date of your life So I called your home, but your so-called father was on the phone, he wasn't easy to ignore." I think its about someone who's been on a date and was really in love with the person. But they didn't have a good time and wouldn't return their calls afterwards. And now he's depressed, because he's been rejected by the woman he loves and is trying to find another way to live, without her. When he sees her around she doesn't even recognised him, which in turn crushes him, but he tries to act the same way... And he just really wants her back in his life... even though she never enjoyed his company as romantic. |

I know i'm almost a whole year behind that last comment, but I just discovered this song (yeah, i know) and i have to say something about it. Bright Eyes is truly an amazing band... spartacus51.. i love the way you interpretted this song. It is an individual perception and although the artist himself most likely had direct intentions while composing it, anyone can take this to mean what is relevant to them. Sure, that can be argued, I however, hold this opinion for every song, especially those with strong political & emotional statements, similar to this very song and almost every piece produced by this band. I personally believe most of the statements made within this song are on the edge of becoming satirical. Also; "I could have been a famous singer If I had someone else's voice But failure's always sounded better Let's fuck it up boys, make some noise" His voice is amazing... and i dont believe he would take it down a notch, for what reason? Maybe he's trying to say that he could have been famous, if he had anothers voice because his is of too high a standard and failure has always sounded better. To himself, and to the people around him. God, i love how powerful the ending is, so appropriate. |
