| I think it's pretty simple... He says he can't Christen it meaning he can't bless the relationship between some girl maybe he loves, or maybe who's just a friend, because he doesn't agree with it. That's why he's telling her not to mix with 'him'. And saying 'don't mix your drinks', maybe it's just when this girl get's drunk she goes with 'him'. 'Coming cap in hand' I think it means he's being sincere, cos it's polite to take a hat off when going into someones house (or used to be in days gone by). | |

jesse's an evil genius. I read somewhere that he got the nickname "the devil" from josh homme in high school.. jesse used to get picked on, but he'd always get revenge on people in weird ways, liek playing mind games with them or something, I dunno. But anway, once, Josh was like... "you're the fuckin devil, man".. cos he's like... crazy and a little bit twisted :) The first time I heard this was live... Jesse was so lovely and excitable and just jumping round on stage all night being awesome, and then suddenly he came out with this, and I was like... wtf?! Arggh! |

Maybe it's like an introduction/explanation of the album... the album is lullabies to paralyze, and he says he's left with just this lullaby. But all the lullabies on the album are obviously pretty messed up, cos they're paralyzing and scary. So... this woman left her with bad lullabies.. bad memories, dreams, stories etc... and now he's just generally messed up in the head because of her. I love this album... it starts of pretty conventional and just gets more and more creepy throughout. Awesome, freaky stuff. |

| It's awesome :) If I ever listen to this album with other people around, I tend to skip this track cos as background music it's really grating, but if you listen to it properly, people get all embarrassed haha. I tend to listen to it with headphones. Josh makes loads of groaning noises in the background in the instrumental bit haha. I love him waaay too much ;) | |

I don't really get the Brody thing... cos I have no idea what happened with Brody..so I'm gonna ignore that and say... I think it's self-destruction. A lot of Josh's songs have similar lyrics. Tangled Up In Plaid: "I slipped, didn't mean to do it that way" (doing more damage than he intended to), "Self-inflicted wound, your gift impeccable aim" (cut exactly where he wants?) "It hurts, it must" (the whole point of self harm is to feel pain) You Can't Quit Me Baby: "I slashed and I cut, and I bled in the sink... I slashed and I cut, and I did it for you" (pretty self explanatory) How to Handle A Rope: "Open up your wrists, let it go" (cutting wrists to either forget everything and letting go all the stress, or just let you life go and die) Suture Up Your Future: "I'm gonna suture up my future" (getting stiches after cutting), "I don't care if it hurts, just so long as it's real, I won't waste it, I turn to face it, I've sharpened a knife and used it til bone made it dull" (wanting to cut for pain) I'm not saying Josh Homme is a self-harmer, so don't all shout at me! Just making a point.. there seems to be a theme running in some songs on each album. I also think there's a theme about keeping secrets in a lot of his songs too, but that's a whole different story :) |

| I think the song's supposed to make no sense at all... not everything has to be analysed, it can just be a load of rubbish... at the end of the track, when the music stops, there's a voice (I think it's Josh??) That says "There's only one line I would get". Even they don't know what it means. | |
