State Radio – Heady Riser Lyrics 16 years ago
I agree with what has been said before me (the relation of Heady Riser to one who unlawfully or imorally rose to power I hadn't thought of but makes a lot of sense. What hasn't been mentioned is how much Chad references a very popular WW2 poem about Nazi occupation...

"When the Nazis came for the communists,
I remained silent;
I was not a communist.

Then they locked up the social democrats,
I remained silent;
I was not a social democrat.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
I did not speak out;
I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews,
I did not speak out;
I was not a Jew.

When they came for me,
there was no one left to speak out for me"

Both the Poem and the song, Heady Riser, reference the concept that if we do not stand together we simply will not stand for long. If we keep averting the blame elsewhere and not take action we have no one to blame but ourselves.
