I would this, at least in part, is a conversation between Mariah and Claudio. The only thing is... Isnt Maria dead already? |

To me it seems like the lament of a ghost, dead as a result of the carelessness of her lover... Still, there are parts i dont really get... |

It seems to be about a vampire who took a human lover... She eventually dies of old age, or is discovered and burnt as a wish And when that day comes, he cant crie for her, even though he wants to, because he is a vampiree |

I disagree with the above statement a bit. The song seems to be about a lover whose family AND loved one are dying. (And it seems not to be a natural death) Anyway, he says to the lover he would die for no one (not even for her) as he wished only for the trial of God, which God just delivered in the form of their deaths. He, however, admit he will mourn for them for the rest of his life. And then in the end he admits the pain he feels for her death is so intense he would willingly sacrifice himself for her, and only for her. |

For me this is more about getting saved, and the conviction we feel when we do wrong, tha we have sinned We fell in love, with dust in our lids And the pain of a severed soul (Getting saved) We lowered our heads and lifted our face Placed our bodies in celebration On the lips of a mutilated man I carry the bones of a deformed child (This is about our human nature, and how we should abandon it and follow the words of jesus, instead of carrying the renmants of our former lives) And my own polluted breath I speak the old man's words In a persuasive eloquence (I agree with Sir Doof on this one, old man here probably refers to Satan more than to God Bless the dust that hides This unlamented head (The things that make us realize how much we depend on the Lord On the crest of fire, our wings are burning How glorious the pain And the ways of God, shriek out of tune (The conviction of having sinned and needing to be forgiven, and how we are not in communion with Him until we pray and ask forgivance. Though it hurts, this is also a sign that we are really saved. All is lost but hope On the crest of fire Our wings are burning To the wind's anthem All is lost but hope (He has lost all he earthly was, and only has the hope of Heaven which guides him/her.) |
