I think it has to do with a friend ruining a relationship and now they're not friends anymore. Like, it says "80 proof is no excuse...." so maybe the friend was got drunk and like, slept with the singer's girlfriend or something... "You show no remorse or class enough to own up to ths mistake" And the friend lied about it and wouldn't take responsibility. And they fought about it. "Words fell short as your lies grew stronger" "through it all I always loved her." But he still loves his girlfriend. "Remember we'r best friends for never" So they're no longer friends. The siger also says "Because of ths I'm so much stronger." So I think he's trying to say to his ex friend that he didnt ruin him by whatever he did and he's jsut stronger for it. And then the singer goes on to say how the friend was a bad friend: "When I gave an inch you'd take a mile" And then to say "You claim to be the story and that's all you'll ever be. Just a page in your own diary that ain't that great to read." Basically insulting him. |
