i watched the music video for this song, and it IS about a person who went to war, but the genders are switched, so its a man that dies, and his girlfriend/wife gets the news at the end of the video. but i don't understand it because she is not "taken from the world," as james says she is. :/ |

I listen to this song and feel like crying every time. I have had both my parents my whole life, so I can't relate, but it really makes me think and want to thank my parents for the best 13 years anyone could ask for. I am fullfilling my dream one step at a time, and they will always be there. If you are as lucky as me, be sure to thank the man and woman who are doing their best with you every day. they deserve at least that. |

I didn't really look at it that way until now, but that makes more sense than any of the meanings on here. I also think the line "You always light my way..." HAS to refer to God. Thank you for putting this in perspective. I am a very religious Roman Catholic, the way Christianity should be. I appreciate that you have said this, as I haven't really thought about it before. This is the best meaning for any song I have ever heard. |

I just LOVE this song. By the time I was 3, I knew all the words to the song. It's so inspiring to me, and I can't not sing along to it when it plays. I grew up with U2, and they are the best band I have EVER heard. This song meaning is pretty obvious, it just means that you need to let go of things like embarrassments or losses, because you only get one life so you need to live it well. Being a teenager, I can really relate to this song. Sometimes, when I'm having a bad day, all i need to do is come home and blow the speakers with this song. That makes me feel a lot better. |

I love rob. The first time I heard this song (being 100% honest here) I hated it. My friend decided to try and annoy me to death, and made me listen to it nonstop like 3000000 times over, and I'm glad she did. After listening to it over and over, I really HEARD the song, and I fell in love with it. The funny thing is, anything that had to do with rob was like that for me. I made fun of him and his acting, but then ibread all the books and saw the movie. He is now my first and only celeb crush and Taylor needs to die in a well. Rob and his music were forced on me, and I am glad they were. I am like a daicing twiheart and I think I always will be. If you don't like this song, listen to it over and over for a while. Then let me know what you think. ; D |

This is a song that sounds so fun but actually has deep meaning in it. My dance team did a pointe trio to this song, and I just fell in love with it after I heard it once. Her voice range is beautiful and I can't stop listening to it! |
