First off, I adore this song. Second. I think it's pretty obvious what the song's about. He's in a relationship with a girl who is terrified of commitment. He's pretty desperately in love with her, even to the point of asking her to marry him. One morning he wakes up and she's not there. He looks in all possible places for her but the answers avoid him. She moved, she got on a plane and left him. Never looking back. I never saw suicide in this song and Alex is pretty clear in the interview that she leaves. |

I disagree about taking it farther. Jeremy does have an incredible voice but I don't think the point of this song was to showcase his talent. The simplicity makes it beautiful. It's a perfect example of less is more. |

I live in the middle of nowhere and sometimes my brother and I will just drive down those old country roads. And we turn on the radio really loud and sing and I keep time on the steering wheel. We know we're not really going anywhere, just wasting gas, but it feels so good. I think that's what this song is about, getting away with friends so all the shit that was screaming in your ear for attention just gets... quiet. No matter how loud the music gets the world is much quieter. |

I'm a big fan of STD. However, their lyrics are so versatile that they're hard to analyze. What they mean to me might not be what they mean to someone else and is most likely not what they meant to Chris. But just focusing on any one of those is missing the bigger picture. The important thing is that they HAVE meaning. To anyone. :D |

the acoustic version of this song is jesus incarnate. end of story. the lyrics are beautiful. using such common words and phrases in ways we'd never think of to make us feel something is a talent even better then singing or playing a musical instrument. in my opinion at least. and i'm a musician myself. either way it makes me strive toward becoming a better lyricist which is the biggest compliment I can give. |

| yeah, it's definitely about a lack of faith. But I think it is also about not having an obligation to believe in something. They choose not to believe in god or whatever and they don't regret that choice. It's about the pressure from society to believe in something and stick with it. Great song, one of the only bands with a female vocalist that I actually like. :) | |
