This is currently my favorite song, it really speaks to me at this stage in my life. I feel trapped and suffocated in my relationship, but I think I have found a friend that will help me through the break up. It will be difficult, but I will get through it. |

I think the singer is frustrated and doesn't know how to convince his partner to consumate their relationship. He's really only thinking of himself and his own selfish needs- "I never had a lover...". He's trying to convince her "it's only natural" - but his approach is anything but romantic (Don't you want to feel my bones?)- she's not convinced and he's left with his frustration.

I may be way off - but I see this song as having religious imagery - "There's a majesty at my doorstep...". It seems there is an inner struggle between living a lifestyle that doesn't necessarily fit in with his faith. He's "not the only one" - but he knows that's just an excuse and he's not sure how long he can remain "in the dark". |
