I agree with the sarcasm interp now, but this song used to be about guilt for me. It was really there for me when I was like 16 and started realizing I liked girls more than boys. I would always feel so guilty as I was cuddling with my boyfriend while I was really thinking about his cousin Shauna. lol This song kind of symbolizes the end of that relationship for me because he didn't deserve being hurt the way I did it. I don't really buy the molestation stuff Or the song being associated with her childhood. SOmetimes the video has nothing to do with a song. |

Great interpretations! For me. This song always reminds me of my best friend. He has seen the worst in people and still finds the beauty in them. He takes the world on his shoulders and thinks its his responsibility to police the assholes that give male-types a bad name. He feels guilty when any man anywhere does something shity. Its one of the reasons i love him, but sometimes i just feel like popping him in the head because he doesn't realize how spectacular he is while he's lumping himself in with those kinds of people. This is what I want to say to him sometimes. |
