| What about the Piltdown man scandal? Many scientists throughout history have put their faith into theories, and touted them as fact. This happened with Piltdown man and it is one of science's biggest failures. The point is, many scientists, several I know, put their faith into a THEORY when in search of the facts. When people think of a theory that they like to believe in, they will actually think very much in terms of using what they know to make that theory fit, and throw out any and all information that might contradict it. This is called inside the box thinking, and it goes very much against what science is all about. I think as far as the song goes, science HAS failed, but only when it meets faith, which it is doing at an increasing rate in recent years. Conclusion: Faith makes science fail, seriously. I see where he was going though, as far as science goes, some very controversial modern day theories seem like established religions for some god-awful reason. GTFO my science, you damn hippies! | |

Anyone read the book Brave New World? It seems kinda like that sort of social commentary. "Its time to bow your heads to A nations swinging axe While you search for answers planted in the ground" He's talking about how people aren't focusing on getting to the real issues, and are obsessed with being "Green" "Im happy watching you, dance your legs down to your knees Im happy watching you, be infatuated with love Im happy watching you ... watching you Die" Basically he's really cynical, questioning how people stupidly spend a majority of their lives partying and looking for love when they could be making a real difference: he's perfectly happy watching these kinds of people die. |
