This is how I feel about so many songs. They shouldn't be interpreted by any mind exept the writer's. It's extremely offensive to pretend that you knew what Elliott Smith was thinking. It's great to appreciate the song, and praise him for his brilliance no matter how petty you are, but it's terrible to guess at what he means and try to convince people that you knew what he was talking about. |
