my interpretation of this song is completely different. i found the lyrics to be extremely straight forward other than the strange use of conjunctions. i understand it as being about being in that severly depressed/sucicidal state, however, none of which referring to a girl or friend with benefits. "I live to pass time, It makes sense in my mind, But that's not a reason, To keep this weak heart beating" - nothing he sees is worth living for. he obviously does not enjoy life. "My feet are shuffling, The clouds roll in, The wind at my neck, But every day's a thunderstorm" - this could be referring to him walking to the cliff later mentioned and getting ready to end his life. he is taking it all in before he kills himself. "My knees are quivering, The cliff's edge so inviting, yeah, The lightning hits my chest, But the shock is so routine, For me these days" - of course, "the cliff's edge being so inviting" is quite obvious. "the shock is so routine for me these days" means that once you've gone through something so many times, it becomes routine and mundane. "You make my bed, I'll make your day, I'll write down every word you say, And stuff it in a record sleeve, And make sure no one ever, ever finds it" - now he is speaking to anyone who may help him, 'if you do this one easy, everyday thing for me, i will repay you with the best.', he wants someone to tell him how much he is loved and needed just once so he can 'record' it and never have to ask anyone to say it again. "can you save me now?" |
