Dire Straits – The Man's Too Strong Lyrics 16 years ago
I always thought that this was a war criminal's confession, but I don't think that the Man is the bad guy here. I reckon that the narrator took over the country, and actually sentenced the Man to death. The Man was the former ruler of the country, and was therefore considered dangerous. The Man manages to jibe the narrator at the execution, before dying. However, the narrator is haunted by memories of him - The Man died, but is not necesarily dead, at least not in the narrator's thoughts.
And that's about it.

Genesis – Home By The Sea Lyrics 16 years ago
It's clearly about somebody who breaks into a home by the sea in the dead of night, but finds himself trapped by ghosts and spirits that wish to tell him of their lives. Neither he nor the ghosts can escape the House by the Sea, and he will be trapped their for the rest of his life, meaning that he will probably join the ghosts when he dies.
This is just an idea, but it's what springs to mind. I doubt that there is that much deeper meaning in the song.

Queen – Great King Rat Lyrics 16 years ago
Apparently, this has the most words in it out of any Queen song.
The meaning isn't really amazingly complex - it's about a gangster who dies - but there's a bit more to look at in the saints and sinners bit.

Queen – Heaven For Everyone Lyrics 16 years ago
Epic chill-out music - and it works. This is one of my favourite Queen songs of all time, up with Liar, Was It All Worth It?, March of the Black Queen, and God knows what else. Yeah, the meaning's pretty simple. One of the only songs by Roger Taylor where the lyrics don't make me cringe.

Queen – White Queen (as It Began) Lyrics 16 years ago
Only two Queen songs have guitar parts that can actually bring me close to tears, this being one and Bijou the other. Just too beautiful.
Yes, I think that it's connected to Black Queen as well. I've got this strange idea of a plot running through the album - basically...
Boy meets girl, girl disappears, boy searches for girl, boy finds girl in middle of bizzare fantasy world, girl is revealed to be evil dark queen of some kind, and then...
Well, I don't know, I've always just presumed that the boy somehow gets away from March of the Black Queen. But, you know, he might join the White/Black Queen, it's not that clear to me.
And somehow fathers, mothers, fairies, lovers, and ogres fit in somehow. Oh yes, and the mighty ruler of Rhye. Whatever, it's an amazing album, Queen II.

Queen – Was It All Worth It Lyrics 16 years ago
One of my favourite Queen songs. Ever.
And one of the things that makes it that, along with the mock-orchestra and heavenly synths, is Freddie's strange moment of doubt. I have this deep, dark suspicion that he didn't really mean it.
Just speculation.

Genesis – The Knife Lyrics 16 years ago
This definitely reminds me of Marillion's Forgotten Sons - and as we all know Marillion's main influence, I doubt that it's a coincidence.
