I literally listened to this like 15 in a row one night while i was driving home from a Brand New concert and it summed up exactly how i was feeling about somebody. Here's what i think it means- Everybody has an "angel" or the perfect person and we are all praying to be good enough for that person, but we never will. If you read the lyrics like that, it makes a lot of sense. That's how I interprated it. "there is another love that i would rather be obeying" to me means, he'd rather have someone he knows he deserves cuz then he can wrap his head around it and won't feel worthless... and when he says "we are the angels and we are the ones that are prayin'" i think he means that the two people realize they are the perfect people for each other, but don't deserve it, so they're praying that they're good enough and God can help them get past their insecurities and live in happiness... This is what i will always believe the song mean, because they were the exact feelings i had when i really listened to this song for the first time. I have never listened to a song like that before, but it is definitely my song of the year, if not my all-time favorite of my life... EVER. Reply back and tell me what you think of my idea.
