fueledbyerin... Sam Sparro has specifically stated that the song is indeed related to God. "Moving on... what's the single, 'Black and Gold', about? "SS: It's pretty much about existential moments: does God exist? What are we all doing here? I was thinking about the origins of the universe when I wrote it - you know, nothing much, really! The black is the space in between and the gold is the stars."" I like the tune, but the lyrics are disappointing tbh. A lot of it is the same nonsense we keep hearing from religious people: -our lives would be meaningless without a God. -it would be scary -God is real through personal experience - no actual evidence needed -and so on... So yeah, I prefer to interpret in the framework of a relationship as well. But it's about God if you ask the artist. |
